WHAT TO EXPECT... WHEN BOOKING YOUR SESSION
(Part 2) – Selecting your date, location, attire, accessories/props! {MemoriesByJoannaR Photography}

Now that you have answered why you want this shoot... lets move on to more important things. What do you plan to do with your images? Do you want to make a book to give out to family? Do you want to make prints to put in a scrapbook or in frames on the wall? Do you want canvas prints or poster sized prints to display around the house? If you have a specific purpose for the images, we can make sure we get some great shots to blend in with where you want to place them. Your next decisions to make are where and when you want your session to be.

Your reason for having this shoot and the location are two very important decisions.
Family Session ~ Your home would be a great location if you want to be a little more personal. A local park or favorite weekend spot might be better for a relaxed and laid back shoot. Feel free to be as casual or as crazy as you'd like. If you would like to add your family pet... keep that in mind when deciding also.

Newborn/Child Session ~ We have shorter windows of time before your child wants to go run and play. Any shots that you MUST have would need to be done at the beginning. After that we are letting them have fun and just capturing the moments. Remember to factor in nap times and times when your child is most alert and happy.

Senior Sessions~ These can be as casual and laid back as you'd like or as crazy and fun loving as you would want. Remember we are capturing some very special moments for your high school senior that you will all remember for years to come.

There are so many reasons to schedule your shoot and make it personal or just because. I can sit down with you and help you figure out what's best to fit your session. What to wear and if you'll use props... those are two important questions. If you're unsure... we can figure that all out when we discuss the details.

Deciding what to wear... some are more comfortable with nature and being laid back. Others like to add props and dress up to create the feel of your session. Babies and toddlers will do well with minimal changes. The more natural and laid back, the better. School age children like to have control and love to make the choices. Letting them make decisions are a great way to let them feel like they are in control and they will LOVE IT! Seniors will most likely need to bring 2-3 changes of clothes. I want to capture a few different views of their personality. Team sports, favorite activities or hobby and maybe a picnic of all of the their favorites! Families are best when coordinated. No necessarily the same color but colors that go well together. You can't go wrong with jeans... because you can dress them up or down as much as you want and everyone will still look great! A great tip I learned a while back is to look through the catalogs and store ads. You will be amazed at how great everyone looks and how "coordinated" they are and for good reason! Props can play as big or as small as role as you would like also. Do you have family items that you would like to add to the session to tie everyone in together or for a more personal touch? Do you have a favorite blanket passed down from generation to generation or maybe a cherished heirloom that great-grandma made and passed down? Sometimes simple is better.

Next up is what to do when preparing for your session... Stay tuned!
